The Islamic Christian Commission - Independent clashes

A leading civil-rights group has accused Israeli police of systematic discrimination against the Arab residents of East Jerusalem as growing numbers of hardline religious Jews take up residence in Palestinian areas.

 A report from the Association for Civil Rights in Israel (Acri) found that violent confrontations between Jewish residents and their Palestinian neighbours had risen rapidly, but that Israeli police have largely ignored Palestinian complaints.

Dozens of residents of the Russian capital gathered Friday with representatives of Arab and Muslim communities in one of Moscow’s largest squares to mark International Jerusalem Day and show support for the Holy City and its residents, who are facing tough conditions due to intensified Israeli assaults against them in recent times.

Demonstrators carried banners voicing out against Israel’s brutal policies practiced in Jerusalem, with slogans such as “Say no with passion to Judaizing Jerusalem”, “We are with you, our brothers the Palestinians”, and “Together we will defend the holy city”.

New York: "Religions for Peace" Reject Planned "International Burn a Quran Day"

The Secretary General for the New York-based World Conference of Religions for Peace [WCRP], and which is the largest international coalition of representatives of international religions in the world, rejected the public call made by a Church in the state of Florida for an "International Burn a Quran Day" on the anniversary of the 9/11 attacks, saying that this was a dangerous act to deliberately insult what is holy to the Muslims.

In a speech delivered to the King Abdulaziz Center for National Dialogue whose headquarters is in Riyadh, WCRP Secretary General Dr. William F. Vendley said that all believers of different religions all across the world are relying upon the leadership role being played by the Custodian

Israel steps up security in Jerusalem

Israel deployed hundreds of extra police in Jerusalem as tens of thousands of Muslims flocked to the flashpoint Al-Aqsa mosque compound for the first Friday weekly prayers of the Ramadan holy month.

"We have deployed 2,000 police in order to deal with any eventuality," Jerusalem police spokesman Shmulik Ben Ruby told AFP. He later estimated that some 80,000 worshippers had attended the early afternoon prayers.

Entry to the compound was being limited to men over the age of 50 and women over the age of 45, as well as married men 45 to 50 years old and married women between the ages of 30 and 45, according to the Israeli military.

Israeli bulldozers backed by police destroyed dozens of gravestones in a Muslim cemetery in central Jerusalem on Tuesday, according to an AFP photographer.

The Islamic Movement accused the municipality of destroying more than 200 Muslim graves that had been recently renovated in a centuries-old cemetery in mostly Jewish west Jerusalem.
